Recently, an important announcement appeared on the Huawei website stating that, from 2. January 2019, the nomenclature of technical certificates will undergo changes. The manufacturer referred to this operation as “Huawei’s Certification System Upgrade”.
The purpose of this initiative is to reduce the number of certification categories and names from nine (HCNA, HCVA, HCNP, HCDA, HCDP, HCIE, etc.) to three (HCIA, HCIP, and HCIE). The letter ‘I’ appearing in the previous abbreviations stands for ICT, which is Information and Communications Technology.
Starting from the beginning of 2019, HCNA certificates (Huawei Certified Network Associate) will now be called HCIA (Huawei Certified ICT Associate).
Similarly, HCNP certificates (Huawei Certified Network Professional) will change their name to HCIP (Huawei Certified ICT Professional).
For HCIE certificates (Huawei Certified Internetwork Expert), the abbreviation remains the same, but its extension changes. From now on, the HCIE certificate should be understood as Huawei Certified ICT Expert.
